"Credit check" or "Credit score" is a test carried out online to
show your credit history, your bank account, criminal record, etc.
All our data (addresses, credits history, financial bindings) are
kept in a central database (Credit Reference Agency), from which
estate agencies or any other companies can examine your financial
status.
Some of the data they'll be looking at is:
- Time spent in the UK.
- How often you changed your address (at least 2 years at the same
address is required).
- Registration on electoral roll (voting list).
- Supplied documents as a legal evidence of your earnings.
- Form of payment at work (cash in hand is the most unfavorable
one).
- Your credit history.
Unless you pass this test most agencies will refuse to sign any
contract. Obviously people who have just arrived in the UK will be
unable to get positive Credit Check.
Be careful because some agencies may keep your deposit after the
Credit Check is negative! Make sure you check all their terms and
